The minute you see your pet cat twitch and twirl, scratching to rub off something from her back, you start wondering what could be wrong with her…Don’t panic! It may be fleas that are feasting on her blood through her skin!
Fleas can be really annoying guests on your favorite pets. Fleas are very small parasites that can pierce the skin and suck blood through it. Though you can easily get your cat rid of fleas, it is better to take preventive measures, as the saying goes, prevention is better than a cure.
Fleas can cause severe itching on the surface, leading to rashes too.
How to identify the flea problem?
Use a flea comb on your cat’s fur. If it shows you tiny black dots (probably remains of your cats drained blood), you will know its time to act!
How can you control these pests?
*Kill the eggs while they are not completely hatched. They might be everywhere, your cat’s fur, your carpets, beds, and covers.
*Make sure the pet’s bedding is free of these larvae. Wash them regularly with cold water.
*Vacuum your carpets completely, and frequently. Air conditioning also helps keep your environment flea-free!
*Steam clean your carpets if you feel some eggs may have escaped your attention. Nothing wrong in being extra careful!
*Use furniture and carpet sprays, flea repellants (non toxic ones which will not affect your cat)
