Pet Heartworm Medicine
Eradicating heartworms in pets!
Heartworms are parasites that could be fatal to your dogs and cats. These worms tend to suck the nutrition of the hosts leaving them weak and exhausted.
The heartworms could be prevented easily under the consultation of a vet. These pet heartworm medicines are derived from a group of chemicals termed as macro cyclic lactones. These chemicals tend to destroy the heartworms in their larval stage. Milbemycin is one of the drugs, which are used to prevent pet heartworm disease.
Test Your Pet First
The pet should be tested by the vet for heartworm infection before treating it for heartworm prevention.
Heartworm cure is usually done gradually. This is because a large amount of dead worms in the intestine and heart of the pet could block the blood flow of the pet. This means the adult heartworms that are resident in the bloodstream of a pet should be annihilated phase by phase.
The canine and the feline heartworm disease are different in terms of pet heartworm medicine. The cats have a weaker heart and they are inflamed by the presence of the round worms. When these round worms are killed, they could further cause swelling to the pet’s heart. This requires additional care from the vet.
Cats: More Sensitive
Most cats are sensitive to strong drugs and hence they would require pet heartworm medicines that is different from those used for the canine heartworm disease.
Pet lovers in general are better off trying to prevent heartworm, as they can be fatal to your pet, rather than trying to cure the disease.
